Amy Beager

Amy's work often utilizes classical imagery in order to subvert it, reimagining and rearticulating figures and mythologies into scenes fraught with contemporary intimacy and tension.

Often focusing on scenes of loss or longing, Beager's archetypal figures provide viewers a means of identification: the body and its positions metonyms for anguish and fear; love and lust.

Working closely from the images kept in her studio, Amy uses the real as a tether for the convincing fantasy of her images – with one foot in our world, they venture into the fantastical with the other.
